Hourly chauffeur in Dubai and across the UAE

Our hourly chauffeur service in Dubai gives you a car and driver for a block of time instead of one trip. The driver waits between stops, keeps your bags in the car and follows the plan as it changes. Most UAE operators set a 2-3 hour minimum. We confirm yours with a fixed fare on WhatsApp.

When one-way transfers stop making sense

Picture the day. A 9:30 meeting in DIFC, lunch at Dubai Mall, a villa viewing in Dubai Hills at three, dinner on Palm Jumeirah. That’s four separate rides and four waits on the kerb in the afternoon heat, and the shopping from lunch comes to the viewing with you.

An hourly chauffeur fixes this. The driver waits wherever you leave them, and the next stop is a message away. It’s one of our chauffeur and transfer services, and the one we suggest to visitors with a full diary and no fixed timings.

How hourly chauffeur hire in Dubai works

Hourly chauffeur hire in Dubai means you pay for time rather than the distance between two points. You set a start time and address, and the driver stays with the car for the booked hours while you add or reorder stops. The fare is fixed before the day starts.

  1. Send the plan on WhatsApp: start time and address, a rough list of stops, how many people and bags, and whether you’ll leave Dubai.
  2. We reply with a fixed fare for the block and the car you pick. Ask for the extra-hour rate in the same chat, so it’s in writing too.
  3. The driver arrives at the start address. On most UAE hourly bookings the clock runs from the booked start time, so be ready a few minutes early.
  4. Between stops, the driver parks nearby and waits. Message them when you’re ten minutes from finishing and the car will be at the door.
  5. The day ends at your last drop-off. Time beyond the booked block counts as overtime.

If you’d rather we suggest the order for a sightseeing day, book one of our private city tours instead.

Half day, full day and minimum hours

No UAE rule defines these blocks. Operators set their own, and most land on similar shapes.

Booking Typical length in the UAE market Works well for
Short block 2-3 hours, the common minimum One meeting with a wait, a mall run, a dinner and back
Half day About 4-5 hours Property viewings, a morning of errands across town
Full day About 8-10 hours Back-to-back meetings, a day trip to Abu Dhabi or Ras Al Khaimah

Some operators also cap the distance. One global platform includes 40 km per booked hour, and Dubai full-day packages often include somewhere between 100 and 250 km. A day inside one city rarely gets near those limits. A trip to another emirate can, so mention it when you ask for a fare.

Overtime is usually billed at the hourly rate, sometimes in 30-minute steps. Our advice: book one hour more than you think you need. It’s cheaper than watching the clock at your last meeting.

Which car to book for a day with a driver

You’ll get in and out of this car a dozen times, so pick for the whole day.

Car Comfortable seats Large cases Best for
Lexus ES or Mercedes E-Class 3 2 A solo business day or two people on errands
Mercedes S-Class 3 2 Client meetings where the car arrives with you
GMC Yukon Denali or Cadillac Escalade 6 4 Shopping days, families, anyone carrying samples
Mercedes V-Class 6 5 A family of five with a stroller, or a team of four with kit

For a shopping day, take the SUV over a sedan. The boot of a business sedan fills faster than people expect, and nobody enjoys a bag on their lap from Mall of the Emirates to the hotel.

What an hourly chauffeur costs, and what’s included

Your booking covers the car, the driver and their time for the whole block, including all the waiting between stops. Every car is RTA-licensed for chauffeur hire, and child seats are available on request. The fare is fixed and agreed on WhatsApp before the day starts, and the quote says what it covers.

What moves the price:

  • the car class you choose and the number of hours
  • leaving the emirate you started in, because the return drive eats into the block and adds distance
  • tolls on the way: Dubai’s Salik gates charge per crossing and Abu Dhabi’s Darb gates charge at set times, so a zigzag day costs more in tolls than a straight one (our Salik and Darb toll guide explains both)
  • late finishes, and dates when demand is high, such as New Year’s Eve and big event weeks

Hourly chauffeur hire in each emirate

In Dubai, most multi-stop days zigzag along Sheikh Zayed Road, and each Salik gate counts every time you pass it. Group stops by area where you can: DIFC and Downtown together, Marina and the Palm together. Our private driver in Dubai page covers the districts.

In Abu Dhabi, a full day booked from Dubai loses well over an hour each way to the drive, so a 10-hour block leaves you roughly seven hours on the ground. That covers the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, lunch and Saadiyat Island. If you’re staying in the capital, start the block there with a driver based around Abu Dhabi.

Sharjah’s stops sit close together. The crossing from Dubai on Al Ittihad Road is the slow part at rush hour, so plan the Sharjah leg for mid-morning and leave before the evening traffic builds. See our notes on chauffeur hire in Sharjah.

Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah mean long days, with mountain and east-coast stops far apart. A Jebel Jais day from Dubai fits a 10-hour block if you start early. Read about hiring a driver in Ras Al Khaimah before you plan one.

Hourly hire or separate transfers?

As a rough guide, book by the hour once you have three or more stops, or any wait longer than about 45 minutes. Two legs with a long gap between them usually work out better as two transfers. If you’re unsure, send both versions of the plan and we’ll quote both. Before paying any operator, run through our checklist for hiring a chauffeur in Dubai.

Hourly chauffeur: questions

What is the minimum booking for an hourly chauffeur in Dubai?

Across the Dubai market the usual minimum is 2 or 3 hours, and some operators sell only half-day and full-day blocks. Send us your start time and rough plan on WhatsApp and we confirm the minimum for the car you want, together with a fixed fare for the whole block.

Can I change the stops once the day has started?

Yes. That is the point of booking by the hour. Tell the driver the next address in the car or send it on WhatsApp. If the new plan takes you to another emirate or past your booked hours, tell us early so the extra time or distance is agreed before you set off.

What happens if my day runs longer than the hours I booked?

Extra time is charged as overtime. In the UAE market it is usually billed at the hourly rate, sometimes in 30-minute steps. Ask for the extra-hour rate when you book so it is in writing, and message us as soon as you know the day will run over.

Can I keep shopping bags or luggage in the car between stops?

Yes. The car stays with you for the whole booking, so bags, laptops and coats can stay inside while you are in a meeting or a mall. Take passports, phones and anything valuable with you, as you would with any parked car.

Can an hourly booking start with an airport pickup?

Yes. Give us the flight number and we track the flight. The driver meets you in arrivals with a name board, and the usual 60 minutes of free airport waiting applies. Tell us whether the hourly block should begin at landing or at your first stop.

Can I hire a car and driver for several days in a row?

Yes. Multi-day hire works as a series of daily blocks, each with its own start time and plan. Send the dates and a short outline for each day. Where the days look different, for example a full Abu Dhabi day followed by a short Dubai evening, we quote each one separately.

Are child seats available on hourly bookings?

Yes, on request. Tell us the child's age and weight when you book. UAE rules require a child safety seat for children under 4, and children under 10 or shorter than 145 cm may not ride in the front seat.
