Who books a Toyota Coaster with driver in Dubai
The Coaster is the answer for a group of 15 to 21: too many for a Sprinter, not enough to fill a full coach. It’s a standard 20-plus seat bus across the Gulf, and five of the eight UAE chauffeur fleets in our research list one. You’ll find it in the minibus class of our fleet.
Wedding planners book it to move guests between the hotel and the venue. Conference organisers use it for the morning and evening runs. School trips, cricket and football teams, and family tour groups on a day out make up most of the rest.
Inside the Coaster: seats, curtains and a microphone
Toyota UAE lists the 2026 Coaster as a 23-seater with a 2.7-litre petrol engine or a 4.0-litre turbo. Both versions come with window curtains and a microphone and amplifier. Expect upright seats in rows either side of a centre aisle, more school-trip than airline lounge.
The microphone gets used more than you’d think. A wedding coordinator can tell 21 guests the photo timings once, instead of 21 times. On a sightseeing day, a guide can talk through the drive.
Toyota also quotes a 15.8 m turning circle. In plain terms, the Coaster gets into hotel driveways and older streets in Bur Dubai and Deira where a full-size coach struggles to turn.
Luggage: where the Coaster runs out of room
This is the Coaster’s weak spot, and we’d rather tell you now. Unlike a coach, it has no underfloor hold. Suitcases go in the rear rows and at the back of the cabin, which is why we plan on about 12 large cases with a full load.
So for an airport group of 21 with a 23 kg case each, one Coaster isn’t enough on its own. Either add a Toyota Hiace as a luggage van, or book a luxury coach with underfloor holds. For event days, where guests carry a handbag and nothing else, the Coaster is ideal.
Airport runs and routes
Some wedding parties fly their guests into Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi, which took the new name in February 2024 and still uses the code AUH. Twenty guests with light bags on the Abu Dhabi airport to Dubai transfer is a natural Coaster job. The driver tracks the flight, meets the group in arrivals with a name board and gives you 60 minutes of free waiting.
For bigger plans with several vehicles, see our group transportation service. The couple usually travel separately, in a wedding car with a driver.
Coaster, Sprinter or coach?
| Mercedes Sprinter | Toyota Coaster | Luxury coach | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Passengers we quote | 12 | 21 | 35 and up |
| Large cases we plan for | 9 | about 12 | about 30 and up |
| Where bags go | Behind the last row | Rear of the cabin | Underfloor holds |
| Best for | Delegations, VIP groups | Event shuttles, teams | Full airport groups, conferences |
Twelve people who care about the interior should book the Mercedes Sprinter. Twenty people with handbags belong in a Coaster. Twenty people with suitcases need a coach or a second vehicle.
Booking tips
Send a run sheet: every pickup point, time and head count. Tell us about children who need child seats, which are available on request. If guests arrive on different flights, list them all, and we’ll suggest whether one bus or two smaller vehicles works better.
