Fujairah airport to Dubai taxi: coast to coast in 90 minutes
Fujairah International sits on Airport Road, about 2 km south of the city centre, on the far side of the Hajar mountains from Dubai. Of all the airport transfer routes across the UAE we drive, this is the only one that starts on the Gulf of Oman and ends on the Arabian Gulf.
Dubai International is 112.5 km away and the Burj Khalifa 121 km, 82 and 91 minutes on empty roads by OpenStreetMap routing. The mountains rarely slow you down. The last 30 km into Dubai do. The driver tracks your flight and waits in arrivals with your name on a board, as our Fujairah airport transfer page explains.
Over the Hajar mountains: the E84 or the E88 via Masafi
From the terminal the car takes the E89 out of Fujairah City and turns onto the E84, the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Highway. It’s a dual carriageway of about 45 km, opened in December 2011, that climbs through the Wadi Kadra and Wadi Shawka areas and comes out on Maliha Road, the E102, in Sharjah. Some sites call it the E11. OpenStreetMap says E84, and so do we.
Maliha Road then runs about 40 km across the desert interior past Mleiha to the E311, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, which carries you into Dubai. Three emirates, no border checks, and no tolls until Dubai.
The older crossing goes inland to Masafi and picks up the E88, Al Dhaid Road, through Al Dhaid into Sharjah. Routing engines choose the E84 for an airport run, and so do we. The Masafi line makes sense when we collect you further north: FJR to Dibba is about 70 km on the Masafi-Dibba Road. The E88’s Sharjah end clogs at rush hour: on 6 January 2026 Gulf News reported build-up on Al Dhaid Road as drivers dodged the border queues.
When to leave Fujairah airport for Dubai
| You land at FJR | What the Dubai end looks like | Salik, if a gate is on your last stretch | What we plan to DXB |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weekday, 6am-10am | Sharjah-to-Dubai commuter queues on the E311 and at the border points | AED 6 | Up to 2 hr |
| 10am-4pm | Usually close to clear-road time | AED 4 | About 1 hr 30 min |
| 4pm-8pm, Monday to Saturday | Busy city roads in Sharjah and Dubai | AED 6 | 1 hr 40 min or more |
| 1am-6am | Emptiest roads of the day | Free | About 1 hr 20 min |
Salik has added 5% VAT since June 2026 and charges a flat AED 4 all day Sunday. On Fridays, prayer is at 12:45, so allow a few extra minutes near mosques. Our guide to Salik and Darb tolls lists every gate.
Where in Dubai you’re going changes the last stretch
DXB and Deira, at the northern edge of the city, are the nearest drops: the car leaves the E311 for Airport Road. Tell us the terminal, because Terminal 2 isn’t linked to 1 and 3.
Downtown Dubai and Business Bay usually come off the E311 onto Al Khail Road, which carries the Business Bay Crossing Salik gate. Dubai Marina, JBR and the Palm are at the far south-western end of the city. For those, Emirates Road, the E611, runs parallel to the E311 further inland and is our fallback when the inner road is jammed. Staying on? Our Dubai chauffeur service covers hourly hire.
Fujairah airport to Dubai bus, shuttle or taxi
There’s no direct public bus to the terminal. Fujairah Transport Corporation runs metered taxis outside arrivals around the clock. Over 120 km to Dubai, agree the charge before the meter starts.
IndiGo’s coaches are timed to IndiGo flights. If you’re on one and your Dubai stop suits you, use it. Etihad Rail passenger trains are reported to link Al Hilal City in Fujairah with Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, but that’s a station, not your door, and you’d need rides at both ends with your bags.
For a family, heavy cases or a hotel in the Marina, a car booked ahead is the simpler choice, and it’s the same booking as our other transfers between emirates.
Going the other way: Dubai to Fujairah airport
Leaving Dubai in the morning puts you against the main commuter flow, which runs into Dubai. We haven’t found reliable figures for evening traffic out of the city, so for an evening departure from FJR we plan two hours on the road plus check-in at the single terminal. Landing at DXB and heading for the east coast instead? Our Dubai airport to Fujairah route covers that run.
Which car for the run from FJR to Dubai
Ninety minutes with a mountain climb in the middle is long enough for the car to matter. One or two travellers with two cases ride well in a Lexus ES or Mercedes E-Class. A family with five large cases should book the Mercedes V-Class, which we quote for six passengers. A group of up to ten fits a Toyota HiAce. Child seats are available on request, so give us each child’s age when you book.
