Why families book a Kia Carnival with driver in Dubai
The Carnival is the van for people who need van space but don’t care about the badge on the bonnet. It sits in the same people-carrier class of our fleet as the Mercedes V-Class and does the same job: five or six people and their bags in one vehicle.
The numbers explain the feel. Kia UAE gives the Carnival an overall length of 5,155 mm, which is 15 mm longer than a Long-body V-Class. It is much lower, though: 1,775 mm tall with roof rails against 1,901 mm for the Mercedes. On the road it drives like a big estate car. Inside, the roof is lower and the side windows sit closer to your shoulder.
The usual bookers are families meeting relatives off a flight and parents planning a school-holiday day trip. Some travellers ask for a Carnival fare and a V-Class fare before choosing.
Seats in the Kia Carnival: Relaxion chairs or eight places
Kia UAE sells the Carnival in two layouts. The eight-seater has a middle-row centre seat that slides a long way, handy for reaching a toddler. The premium seven-seater gets Kia’s Relaxion seats, which recline into what Kia calls an “optimal resting posture”. If you’ve just done a night flight from London, that’s the seat you want.
Kia’s published legroom is 1,029 mm in the second row and 903 mm in the third, with 955 mm of headroom at the back. In plain terms, the third row is fine for teenagers and most adults on a 30-minute run, and tight for two tall adults on a two-hour drive.
Both sliding doors are powered, and Kia’s Safe Exit Assist is designed to stop a power door opening into traffic coming from behind. On a busy hotel driveway on Sheikh Zayed Road, that’s a feature parents notice.
Luggage: four big cases with six people
Kia Australia quotes 627 litres (VDA) behind the third row (Kia’s Carnival page). In practice we plan for four large check-in cases plus soft cabin bags with six passengers aboard. Fold the third row with four people travelling and the boot swallows far more.
With five or more big cases and a full cabin, book the Mercedes V-Class for the extra case, or step up to a Toyota Hiace if you’re more than six.
Airports and routes it suits
For families landing at Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) to stay with relatives in Dubai, the Sharjah airport to Dubai run is where a taxi queue with six people and four cases goes wrong. Book the Carnival and the driver tracks the flight, meets you in arrivals with a name board and waits up to 60 minutes free.
It also works for private sightseeing days where the family wants one car all day.
Carnival or V-Class?
| Kia Carnival | Mercedes V-Class | |
|---|---|---|
| Seats as built | 7 or 8 | 7 or 8 (6 with VIP seats) |
| Passengers we quote | 6 | 6 |
| Large cases we plan for | 4 | 5 |
| Length | 5,155 mm | 5,140 mm (Long body) |
| Height | 1,775 mm with roof rails | 1,901 mm (Long body) |
Choose the Carnival for four cases or fewer and a car-like drive. Choose the V-Class for a fifth case or lounge seats. For seven to ten people, neither works; that’s Toyota Hiace territory.
Booking tips
Ask us to quote both the Carnival and the V-Class for the same trip. The fares differ, and seeing both side by side makes the choice easy. Mention child seats and pushchairs in the first message, and give the flight number so we can track it.
