Why book a Hyundai Staria with driver in Dubai
Seven people, a trolley of cases, a folded buggy and a toddler asleep on your shoulder. That’s the Staria’s trip. It sits in the middle of our chauffeur van line-up: far roomier inside than a family MPV, and a lot less bus than a 13-seat minibus.
Hyundai UAE lists the Staria at 1,990 mm tall and 5,253 mm long, with a 3.5-litre V6 petrol and 8-speed automatic (Hyundai UAE specification). The height is what you notice first. Adults reach the third row with a slight stoop, and Hyundai lowered the step so grandparents don’t have to climb in.
The sliding doors matter more than they sound. In a packed car park, a hinged door opens a hand’s width before it touches the next car. A sliding door opens fully every time, so you can lift a sleeping child into a car seat without twisting. On trims with Hyundai’s smart doors, the side door slides open as you walk up with the key, and the power tailgate closes itself as you walk away.
How many people and bags fit in a Staria?
Plan on 7 passengers with 4 large suitcases plus cabin bags. Hyundai also builds 9- and 11-seat versions, but on an airport run the luggage needs that space, so we treat the Staria as a 7-passenger van.
Boot space changes a lot between layouts. Hyundai UAE quotes 431 litres behind the last row of the 7-seat Premium, 882 litres in the 9-seat Premium and 1,303 litres in the 9-seat Wagon. The 7-seat Premium gives up boot for comfort: its second-row relaxation seats have a 4-way legrest and 3-stage heating and ventilation, and the 9-seat Premium’s second row swivels 180 degrees to face the back.
If seven adults each bring a big check-in case, book the Toyota HiAce minibus instead, or a Staria with a sedan following. Send the bag count on WhatsApp and we quote the van that fits it.
Hyundai Staria vs Kia Carnival, Mercedes V-Class and Toyota HiAce
| Van | Seat layouts (maker) | What stands out | Book it for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hyundai Staria | 7, 9 or 11 | 1,990 mm tall cabin, sliding doors, low step | Families and groups of 5-7 with bags |
| Kia Carnival | 7 or 8 | Power sliding doors, relaxation seats in the 7-seat | 4-6 people who prefer an MPV ride |
| Mercedes V-Class | 6 (VIP), 7 or 8 | Mercedes cabin, lounge seats in VIP layouts | Corporate guests and VIP arrivals |
| Toyota HiAce | 13 | Minibus body, high-roof version sold in the UAE | 8-12 people or heavy luggage |
Against the Kia Carnival with driver, the choice comes down to headroom. Both run a 3.5-litre V6 with an 8-speed automatic in UAE spec, but the Carnival is the lower, more car-like of the two. Tall passengers and older relatives get in and out of the Staria more easily.
The Mercedes V-Class chauffeur van is the one to pick when the passenger list includes a client or a CEO, because the badge and cabin finish count at a hotel entrance. For a family holiday, the Staria does the same job.
Booking Staria van hire with driver in the UAE
For a pickup at Dubai International arrivals, send your flight number and we track the flight, so a delay doesn’t leave you waiting for us. The driver meets you in arrivals with a name board, and the first 60 minutes of airport waiting are free. Ask for child seats when you book.
The Staria also covers intercity runs from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. The fare is fixed before you travel. For more than seven people, or a wedding or conference that needs several vehicles, see our group transportation service.
